Sam’s Staffing strives to adeptly place individuals, including those with developmental disabilities in the workforce, while promising partnering companies financial and cultural value.
Our story begins in 1996 when we were blessed to welcome our son Sam, born with Down Syndrome into this world. Having full knowledge of Sam’s disability prior to his birth, this genetic anomaly did not come as a surprise, and we were prepared and tremendously supported due to advanced pre-natal planning. Immersed into our local school system at (3) months of age, Sam was challenged immediately, progressing through general education with accommodations made when required. Socially and athletically, Sam participated in many of the routine activities alongside his ‘non impacted’ peers. Post high school Sam attended the University of Cincinnati’s Transition and Access Program, focused on independent living and developing workplace skills. Upon completion of the program in the spring of 2019, Sam began full time work as a Rehabilitation Aide for UC Health and continues that work today. With no perceived expectations of Sam maintaining full time employment, we were unsure what to expect however to our sheer delight Sam was filled with a sense of purpose and just as importantly continues to deliver value to his employer. Three years into his career Sam continues to feel that sense of purpose and takes tremendous pride in the care UC Health provides to their patients and his part in delivering that care. As our Mission Statement suggests, our non-profit organization strives to put all potential employees, including those that may not mirror the traditional ‘norm’, together with open minded employers, creating financial and cultural value for all involved.
Many employers today are looking for ways to build their workforce seamlessly and in a fiscally responsible manner, all while providing minimal impact to their company’s operational efficiency. At Sam’s Staffing we work with employers to understand their workplace environment and workforce needs, conduct background screening to identify potential candidates, and if desired employ job coaches to work alongside these candidates until the employer decides on their long-term fit. Based completely on the employer’s discretion, Sam’s Staffing will keep the candidate on its payroll, collecting and passing through only that amount being paid to the candidate. At any time while on Sam’s Staffing payroll, we will support the employee financially and facilitate any required communication, including job separation discussions as needed. Should the employer wish to hire the candidate at any time, they can do so without any additional financial obligation to Sam’s Staffing.
A diverse workplace is essential, since it acknowledges the individual strengths and perspectives of each employee and the potential they bring. Valuing the differences of others is an asset that binds us together, leading to a more productive, successful and inclusive workplace. Thanks to UC Health's forward thinking we have seen first hand the positive impact employment has made on Sam and we wish to assist others in this same manner.
We are always looking for enthusiastic, hard working, high integrity individuals to join our team. Our job coaches experience tremendous satisfaction with teammates working to achieve their goals. Coaching work schedules are highly flexible.
We sincerely appreciate your consideration of helping us absorb the costs associated with our job coaches and support staff.
